Sheets January 19, 2010 at 10:52 am: My PS2 was working fine when my dad bought it for me two years ago. Now it hardly plays DVDs and it won’t even play my PS1 titles anymore.
Now I hear Sony is ditching backwards compatibility for it’s consoles altogether. That is the dumbest move Sony has ever made. Some of us like to play older games as well as newer games. Games are too expensive to just ditch like disposable napkins. Some of these older titles at one time were just as pricey as their newer counterparts([...]). I wish Sony would at least give us the option to download our favorite older titles and not just the popular ones either. I would have bought a PS3 if it was backwards compatible with every Playstation game ever made. I wouldn’t mind the original $[...] price tag that much. Sure they dropped the price but backwards compatibility would have sold me on the idea of such an upgrade.
My game library wasn’t exactly pennies either!
Most of my games I bought new.
Sadly my older PS2 model was more reliable than this piece crap known as PS2 Slim.
Too bad my older model stopped working.
PS2 Slim would be a perfect cheaper alternative to it’s pricier newer brother PS3 if it didn’t suffer from the problems many consumers complained about.
Sagherian January 19, 2010 at 12:39 pm: The ps2 can play dvds and maybe cds, but it’s hard because you have to use two hands for a controller, so if I were you I would get a remote. You can get hundreds of games for you ps2 at a great price between 20 and 30 dollars. The only real problem is that the power switch is at the back, the fan is very quiet and it feels like it doesn’t pollute. So, if your looking for a system with a great price and great games with lots of fun then get the ps2.

Ulay January 19, 2010 at 2:34 pm: Whats there to say about this system…well for one you get great sound, graphics, you can play dvds and unlike the new slimmer version it has a cooling fan so you can play it all day long…like i said ive had mine since it came out and still runs strong and not giving it up…for it being just ‘A black box’ it can still do the things that the next gen consoles can do like play dvds connect to the internet and still has alot of bad ass games you can still play on it i play God of War and CoD on it and have no problems saying that this system can keep up with the rest of them so to say that ‘it is time to get rid of the old PS2′ cause the next gen consoles will blow it away well then you havent seen what systmes are still around the PS2 will be around for for a while…maybe one day they will bundle all 3 Playstation consoles then i will have a huge reason to buy…so all i can say for the PS2 Best console since DAY1.
Fellows January 19, 2010 at 3:02 pm: the seller was very courteous and sent the play station very quickly – as this will be a christmas gift to a relative in the dominican republic, i will not know the performance of it until after x-mas. if the quality of service i have had so far is any indication- then it should work very well.
