ride-ons riding toys Reviews

My 2 year old daughter loves this. She rides it all over. Very strong toy. Has been dropped down the stairs on accident and still goes. Withstands weight of older kids that shouldn’t be riding it too. My son has one of these too (the boy version) that is over 2 years old and it still works, although battery doesn’t hold a charge very well anymore. We have taken that one camping in the sand and dirt and it did very well.

My 2 yr. old son received this over a year ago and he still loves it! The best part about it are the durability, the overall design and of course the swivel wheels! We have hardwood floors and it is very easy to maneuver around the furniture and house. He loves that he can rest his feet up on the turtle’s feet while I push him through the house really fast! My 1 yr. old daughter already loves it too! This is by far the best ride-on toy that we have (and we have 4 others in our house!)

My grandson loved this turtle the minute he saw it. He had not yet begun to walk, but was able to hold on and push it. He is now walking and loves pushing it and riding on it. He looks in the cubby under the seat, but he hasn’t put anything in it yet. He loves playing the music. He loves to dance. At his birthday party, once we opened the turtle, he played with it and wouldn’t even look at his other gifts. We also loved that we didn’t have to do anything as far as putting it together. It comes in one piece, ready to go. No hour or 2 putting it together.

I purchased this Turbo Turtle a year ago for my then-one-year old grandsons to use at my house. One of them is here every day and the other almost that often. This is a toy they fight over, love, have grown with. They started out just pushing with their feet, and now they scoot themselves across the floor and execute spins and turns. The seat is also a place to hide things and they delight in putting “surprises” in there. I was hoping for a similar toy to get them for this year but so far haven’t found one that will spin around and is sturdy like this one.

I bought this for my 14 month old and it says 1 1/2 to 3 years old, but he can move around on it just fine. Both of my kids love it and it’s a big hit. I didn’t buy it from Amazon b/c Walmart had it for $35. It seems that sometimes vendors try to take advantage of customers on Amazon. I’d research prices before buying on here, but other than that this is a fun toy for the boys! It has a little storage compartment to put a few small items in ( cars in our case). My little guy loves to open and close the compartment door. The handle bar has some bells and whistles that play music and some flintstone foot work sounds. The great thing is that after about a million time of the boys pressing the buttons you can turn it off when you get sick of hearing it all. It’s has a switch on and off button under the handle bar and the boys haven’t figured out. It glides on our floor and moves in any direction you want it to go. It’s like rolling around on a desk chair wish they made one in adult size LOL!

My son is 18 months old, and we have had this for about a month. He adores it, and I think it is one of the cutest riders ever. The 360* wheels help a lot, and allow for much more mobility that riders that just go back and forth. The seat flips up to give him a place to hide things… which leaves me looking for sippy cups! So happy that I found this before buying one of the other riding toys!

The Barbie Princess Tough Trike is a good beginner’s tricycle and it makes a good choice for young girls who are close to making the transition to riding a bicycle with training wheels. Its Barbie design/theme will make it a huge hit with fans of Barbie and it offers young children a chance to learn the coordination necessary to operate a self- powered vehicle.

This tricycle is purchased unassembled and it takes a little bit of time to put together. One problem I noticed from the start is that the printed diagram and instructions lack precision. I can recall one part of the diagram that was actually opposite. There aren’t many parts, so assembly is easy, but you need to make sure you assemble based on what your instinct tells you is correct. Don’t base your decision solely on the diagram, because it isn’t completely accurate.

Once the assembly is complete, it is time for a test run. This tricycle is a cinch for most children to operate, but one needs to keep in mind that some children will not be able to reach the pedals. The trike is recommended for youngsters age two to five, but those at the lower end of this age may not be able to operate this trike. Once they can reach the peddles, maneuverability is fairly easy with this toy. The handlebars move very easily and it simple for most any young person to figure out how to get from one place to the next, although the very young may need some assistance.

Because the Barbie Princess Tough Trike is made from plastic, it has certain advantages and disadvantages. Plastic construction means there is no worry about rust and the plastic is heavy enough that the trike can support a good deal of weight and isn’t likely to dent. On the negative side, there is one obvious problem you will notice right away: The lack of traction. With a traditional tricycle, the rubber tires help to grip the ground surface beneath them and help to steady the ride. These wheels are plastic, and that means they are prone to sliding. This is especially noticeable if your child rides the trike indoors, on a tile floor. Then, there is the problem with the stickers. The Barbie Princess Tough Trike has stickers to make it look more appealing to children and these stickers are placed on different areas of the trike. Since these are only stickers, however, they are not likely to last. Over time, they will gradually recede from the surface of the trike and peel or tear.

Kids love to ride toy vehicles and the Barbie Princess Tough Trike is a good, inexpensive tricycle from Fisher Price that achieves its main purpose: To serve as a warm- up for future bike- riding adventures. This tricycle isn’t perfect, for the reasons mentioned above. But it is still a fun toy for around the house use or outdoor use in a supervised area.

My daughter, now 6, had this trike when she was smaller. She had more fun putting stuff in the seat than actually riding it. It didn’t have very good traction but I didn’t expect it to with plastic tires. It is more for a child with long legs! My only problem with the trike was the position of the key. It is placed in a very bad position for a little girl. My daughter ran and jumped on it to take a ride one time and landed on the key. Needless-to-say she hurt herself “down there”. We had to take pliers to remove the key. I don’t know why they do not have it positioned on the side like a key for a vehicle. I am surprised this hasn’t happened to anyone else. Be cautious if you have an energetic child who rides this bike because they may also run and jump onto the bike.

I was suprised at how cheaply I could get this bike. It required some simple assembly upon arrival and my daughter loves it. Sure her feet don’t fully reach the pedals, but no biggie, it’s great to just push around. Awsome purchase for the money.

      Nei March 3, 2010 at 4:53 am

it is not good for riding.. wheels are not taking any friction .. it keeps on sliping..it looks cute and durable and all but not good for riding.

      Abercrombie March 3, 2010 at 6:06 am

My daughter received this trike when she was 2. She is now almost 3 and 38″ and STILL can’t reach the pedals! She still has fun on it but I think she would have more fun if she could use it the right way. The seat pops off a lot too.

We learned quickly that this goes fast on hardwood floors. My niece is still not able to walk much without leaning on things so I thought this would be great. Instead she leaned on it and it scooted away from her. We put it on the carpet and she was good to go. She loves it, especially when we push her around on it.

      Bickmore March 3, 2010 at 8:00 am

The fun parts of the toy are the clicky toys on it and the trunk.

It’s not good for a new walker because it pushes too easily and runs away from the slowly walking kid, who then falls.

It’s not good for riding because the back wheels stick out too far. The kid’s feet hit/get run over by the back wheels. My kid can only get it to go backwards. Older kids can ride it, but it’s pretty low to the ground for them.

We’ve had it 3 years and it’s durable. Nothing’s broken off and the locking mechanism between walker/rider function is still reliable. My 1st kid never cared, but now that the 2nd really wants to ride it I’m going to buy a different one.

      Herzberg March 3, 2010 at 8:55 am

I chose this toy for the economical price and because it has room directly below the handle for my son to walk. Other walking toys don’t have adequate space for walking feet and legs. It has enough extras to be interesting for my 10 month old and works well on both carpet and hard floors. We started on the carpet until he go the hang of it. He now trots around on the hard floors with ease. It’s also light enough so he can pull it back from the wall and change directions. I also like that dual functionality for walking and riding, extends the life of the toy.

      Robles March 3, 2010 at 10:32 am

This makes a decent walk-behind toy, but it’s pretty bad as a ride-on toy. The rear wheels are set further apart than the front wheels. This design makes it easy for the child to walk behind and not trip over the wheels, but it makes it difficult for the child to keep their feet clear of the rear wheels in ride-on mode. If you’re looking for something that’s truly dual-purpose, look elsewhere. Also, not the most important thing to consider, but it’s really ugly. Unless you live at the circus, this thing will stick out like…well, like an ugly piece of plastic. If everything else was top-notch, I could overlook the vomit-inspired color scheme, but there are many better-looking options out there that probably work as well or better than this.

I love this toy. Its affordable and durable. My child plays with it all the time.

      Murphy March 3, 2010 at 12:24 pm

My son has had this toy for 2 years, beginning when he was 16 months old. The plane has a catch in the back so that it doesn’t tip backwards, but there is nothing in the front to keep it from tipping forward. We had a number of incidents where he was trying to climb off or on, and he leaned too much on the front, causing him and the plane to launch forward. Luckily, we never had any injuries other than a few minor head bonks. Even when he was a little older and had used the toy for a while, he would still have trouble occasionally. He was over 2 before he really got the hang of it, but by then he didn’t like it as much. I will admit that despite the safety flaw, he did love this toy when he was young. I cringed every time he found where I hid it though.

      Haggerty March 3, 2010 at 12:51 pm

I bought this for a one year old, birthday party. It was a hit and barely out of the box before being put into action, by the birthday boy. By days end every little kid in attendance had a run on the Elmo Airplane.

      Meehan March 3, 2010 at 2:19 pm

I bought this toy for my 9 month old grandson. He loves it. It is very durable and child friendly. He’s spent hours playing with it both riding and just sitting on the floor playing with it. The only bad thing is he went through the batteries within 3 days. Hopefully fresh batteries will last longer than that. I give it a 5 star rating. Well spent money!

      Rodriguez March 3, 2010 at 3:30 pm

This was the HIT of the Christmas season. Our Sammy loved it. No worry over the spinning propeller. She sticks her little hand right into it and it stops cold! She loved the lights and the buttons to push. The wings fold up so it is easy to store. It’s a toy you would want to keep for the “next one”, stable, sturdy, and loveable!
