i love this game. you sould buy it. i win off my mom and dad they are not pokemon lovers.
Parental comment: there are a variety of such seach and identify games. They feature different characters or sybols. excellent exercise to develop short term memory. great vehicle to build deeper interaction with the parents. We never play to let isabella win. we play a fair game to WIN. this game is better than most in leveling the playing field.

I am writing this review to comment on the excellent customer service I recieved from this vendor. I ordered 2 sets of the cards (200 cards). I was very satisfied with the cards, they were all new cards (I read a review that said they were used), but recieved multiple of copies of one specific card. When I call customer service they were extremely quick to remedy the problem. I would not hesitate to order from this vendor again.
I am thoroughlly satisified with this purchase. This purchase was for my daughter and she loved the deck of Poke-Mon cards. We got a large variety of cards and a great price. Timely delivery too!
For the price not bad. However- don’t expect the holographic cards like it says. They were MIA in my order.
I assume that most people who buy these know that normally if you buy a pack of 5 of them wrapped in cellophane from Target or wherever that you are paying about a buck a card – ridiculous if you ask me – but my 6 year old loves them – and they are great rewards for him completing chores or homework. What you are ordering here are 100 new cards – not wrapped in cellophane – but they came in a really nice plastic carrying case – which I hadn’t anticipated – and my son can’t wait until he earns all 100 cards so he can have the case too. There are duplicates which I would expect – but for the price – about 10 cents a card – oh well – also don’t expect too many high value cards – but there are a few and once again for the price I say oh well.
These packages of 100 Pokemon cards are fun to collect and battle with, but aren’t meant to be educational. They do use arithmetic, especially adding or subtracting of 10’s. You might get some (reverse) holographic cards, which are prized for being holographic (making them useful if you want to trade for a certain rare card, or just for making your deck AWESOME). To make the cards more durable, there are “sleeves” that can be bought cheaply, but they aren’t necessary. I recommend getting these for kids who have played any of the games and like them a lot. It can make them feel as if they “own” the pokemon in real life. Have fun.

Had to have this as soon as I saw the link…my hubby and I are huge Pokemon fans and play it when there’s nothing to do…as fans, aplogies to parents who have to ask questions like “Does your Pokemon have four legs?”, it’s definately more fun for those who know their Pokemon, not just by what they see on the board, but can ask questions like “Does your Pokemon gain a second type when it evolves?” or “Did/does Ash have this Pokemon in any form?” But it also allows you to learn more about Pokemon as you go if you are a newcomer playing with a longtime fan (your kid!)
Only issue is that there are only two different boards, with only 48 Pokemon. With 493 Pokemon in existence (as of the Diamond & Pearl era), there could have been a lot more board options!!!
This game is very similar to the “Guess Who” game, but with Pokemon. Big differences:
- Pokemon instead of people. Makes it a bit confusing. “Is your pokemon weak against electric attacks” questions are hard for parents.
- There are two sets of pokemon cards included. The game is designed so you can switch out all the little cards in the trays with a different set of pokemon. While this lets the kids have more pokemon to choose from, it means the cards are never secured in the slots very well, so if you flip the board upside down to make all the panels flip open, some cards will fall out.
- because of the loose fitting cards, and the constant switching, I can tell this game won’t last very long with little ones playing. The cards have already gotten a bit bent, and I ended up just taping one set onto each frame, so they can no longer switch them out.
Overall, they love it, and I’m glad I made the purchase, but don’t expect this to be a super durable game.
My son loves Pokemon, so of course he loves this game. I wasn’t sure he was going to be able to understand how to play (he is 4), but he caught right on and loves to play it. It is the same as “Guess Who?” but with Pokemon characters. I agree with the others who wrote that the cards do slide out of the holders if you are not careful (and a bit even if you are careful) … but generally this just takes a quick adjustment. All the cards are just a light cardboard, so if you are playing with a rougher kid, I’m sure these are all toast in a matter of days! The holders are durable, however, and the game is fun. We have definitely got our $13 out of it and nothing has been ruined yet for us.
I bought this game for my nephew who never heard of the guess who game but loves pokemon =/
Its fun for him, even for me since I play the game with him.
It comes with two games eac with different pokemon in it.
I paid $10 for this game and so far he feels its worth every penny. Downside is that you can misplace the card pieces and they can easily fall out.
I read the previous reviews so as the volcano came out of the box we made the bag of lava disappear before the kids even saw it. The lava is not necessary. The volcano still lights up and makes noises. I would have scored it higher if it didn’t come in so many pieces, makes me worry it won’t last. With all that said I gave it my 3yo nephew and I quickly found he, his sister, and his brother playing with it. They begged me for their birthdays to buy the add on bases. They all love it and it kept them busy for hours.
I got this for my 6 year old Pokemon fanatic. It fell apart in hours…not sturdy at all, and the slime has no purpose but for making a mess. Skip this plastic hunk of junk. Your little one is better off without it.
I gave this toy to my 5 year old son and he loved it. I went to make breakfast and came back to his playroom, the “lava” or red slime was everywhere, I couldn’t believe it. It has now stained the carpet and his clothes, I managed to get it off the walls. In very small print on the directions it lists staining as a problem. I am still trying various products to get the stain out. Maybe I should have known that slime does that, but most products list that sort of thing on the box.
My 7 yr old son got this for a gift and loves it. We did have the previous version of a Pokemon playset and it was terrible and went back to the store. This one is made so much better and it stays together. I have to say though – I did NOT use the slime and don’t plan to. It says on the directions that it will stain everything (clothes, carpet, tile, etc.) Not sure why the company would bother putting it in there if it stains so much but my kids like it just fine without it. The mountain where the lava goes lights up and turns red anyway so no need for the slime.
I started into Pokemon when my son began to introduce me to the different characters. After playing with him, I began to become more and more interested in the game as a whole, not just collecting cards and trading them.
I feel that anything that can make MY kid happy is well worth the money. He has SOOO MUCH fun playing with these cards and his Gameboy Color games. 5 STARS
There is, if only slight amounts of, educational value to this game, as well. I mean, let’s face it, there isn’t anything better than the “Good ‘ol math book”. What better way to teach your child math than with the use of one of their own enjoyable toys? My child excels in math, I buy new Pokemon cards/decks. 3 STARS
Duribility? Not if you just leave them laying around the house unprotected from the animals and baby siblings. They get wet extremely easy and then start to warp and bend, and in worse cases, fold and tear. Then again, they ARE cards. 3 STARS
All in all, one of the best games to come out since Dungeons and Dragons of the 70’s and 80’s. Yes, I did play D&D. =)
