We bought this camera for our three-year-old grandson, and he enjoys it. He appears to spend more time on the games than on taking photos, which I suppose is normal for that age. Personally, I would have preferred that there were no games. It is very durable and attractive.

The child that has this camera, takes it where ever he goes. His parents were more impressed with its capabilities and had fun with it also. It connects to the computer and the fun in what you can do with the pictures you take is truly a family entertainment project.
Very sturdy, durable and the pictures taken come out terrific. A great gift for any child age 8 to 16.
I would buy it again for any child.
I purchased this for my 3.5 year old son for Christmas last year and he loves it and still plays with it! I got an excellent price on Amazon — at least 20.00 cheaper than other places! My son loves taking pictures and videos and it is really easy for him to use this camera. It’s unbelieveable how many pictures this little camera holds even without an extra memory card. The pictures aren’t excellent quality, but this is a toy and we were satisfied with the pictures when printed. The durability of this camera is awesome — I have 2 boys and trust me, it has been dropped more than a few times and is unharmed! There are also a couple of games on this camera too that he enjoys playing. I highly recommend this product, as you don’t find a lot of toys that aren’t shoved in a corner after a couple of weeks.
We’ve had this camera for about a year and a half now. Ours is the orange one which may be an older model. The picture quality is grainy but you can tell what the subject is and the videos are also decent quality, especially the ones that I have seen that my daughter took outdoors. She loves the games and she loves taking pictures with it. The thing that prompted this review is the camera’s durability. About a year ago my daughter washed the camera in the sink under running water. We set it on top of our AC vent for days and then put batteries in it. We got sound and the logo but no camera function or games. We dried it some more and got the same result and just left the batteries in it so she would have sound with her now-pretend camera. Several days of her turning it on and off an pushing buttons and it started working again. Then a few weeks ago she left it out in the rain. We repeated the process and until today assumed that we would be left with a noise making non-functional camera. Tonight our 2 year old turned it on and took a photo of our dog. I don’t care what anyone else says about this camera, it rocks! It is just what you need for younger kids who are rough on their toys and probably not the best photographers yet anyway.
My son got this for his 3rd Birthday. He loved it and took a million weird pictures including the dog pooping in the yard. You gotta laugh when you see pictures a kid takes! He didn’t use it for more than a month when it started acting up. I thought it was just the batteries and hadn’t gotten around to replacing them. Then I thought it accidentally got turned on in the car and drained the new batteries. If I had really thought about it I would have realized it was not working right. Finally when we put brand new batteries in and it immediately flashed the low battery sign and shut off, we knew it was broken. He was very careful with this camera. I’m very disappointed in the quality and lack of ANY warranty! Luckily I had the foresight to purchase an extended warranty from Toys R us and can get my money back from that. However, I’m still out $10 for the warranty and only got to use the camera for about a month! Not cool for something that costs $60. He really wants a camera so I’m going to risk buying another one and get the warranty AGAIN.
My son loves taking pictures with my Kodak, and dropped my mom’s Kodak, breaking the zoom lens.
I decided a kids digital camera would make a great Christmas gift, and Amazon had the best price of $39.00. This camera is so easy to use and is so durable, it is definitely kid friendly. I’ve looked at the other cameras in this kid category, and they do not compare to the Vtech. It can record short movies, has games, it has funny graphics to add to your picture (before you take the shot)a disk for the computer to do fun stuff to your pictures, a cord to go from the camera to the tv to view, and an extra faceplate that for some reason is pink, not cool for a boy considering our camera is blue, so we keep the one it came with on. It has two view windows or you can use the digital screen to snap the picture. Get the SD card, you can save the pictures and video that way. I know some pictures are not very good quality, but that is ok. It is for a kid to use and have fun and explore with. You want extra clear shots, get your kid a cheap Kodak or whatever. You want a kid friendly, fun, durable, able to take abuse camera? Get this one. He does have some pretty good shots with it however. There is no flash button, so some are dark and others are too bright, otherwise. It is super fun and my 13 year old daughter and I even have fun playing with it.
A toy that allows our 3 and 5 year old grand children to take pictures like adults without having the cost of developing film. Our grand kids have been enjoying the camera for some time. The five year old quickly became interested in the games on the camera.
What a great camera/toy/hobby! I was surprised to find that this camera has features found on adult cameras – you can play your pictures back on a tv or computer, the window allows you to view instantly the picture you’ve taken, there are games to play built in, really just too much to list. It’s construction is perfect for my “not so gentle” 8 year old. For an ADHD child it was something that held her interest and that she loved using. Great buy & great price too!
My 4 year old love this toy. This is his favor toy and he plays a lot. He takes a lot pictures and play games. We use our TV to view pictures and the quality is acceptable. The great thing about this camera is it been dropped dozen times and still works fine. My son figure out all function buttons himself. After half a year, he still plays it. This is amazing since he usually plays toys a dozen times and then total forgot about them.
Based on reviews, I put this camera on my daughter’s birthday list. She received it a couple weeks ago.
I didn’t expect image quality on this camera to be spectacular, but I DID expect it to be passable. For a camera that costs this much, I at least expect image quality to be as good as an average 1 MP phone camera. It doesn’t even come close. Images are completely blurry to the point that my daughter can barely recognize the subject of the picture.
Most new digital cameras today are over 10 megapixels. It makes sense to only have a kid’s first camera be at a low resolution. Better to spend money at making the camera durable and adding some kid friendly features while keeping the price at a reasonable level. I get that. But, we’re talking about resolution that was out 10 years ago. Can it really cost that much to produce passable image quality at that resolution?
You’re better off going on Craigslist and buying someone’s 10 year old point and shoot for $5.
