To those of us who have been collecting/playing since we were young, This is a big change from the Original second costume Storm Shadow. I like this one because it holds a close replica of the orginal. Most of the 25th anniversary I would stay away from if you are a traditionalist of the 80s figures. If you are too young to remember those, then yes these are a fun new set.

Wait, hold on just one second…
Storm Shadow, as every true fan of G.I. Joe knows, is a member of COBRA!!!
I got this one because I couldn’t very well buy Snake Eyes without his ARCH ENEMY, Storm Shadow. Right!?!
So imagine my surprise when looking on the packaging directly above the figure, there’s this big blank spot where it should say “COBRA ENEMY”.
Huh?
I turned the package over fully expecting some sort of verification of Mr. Shadow’s aberrant inclinations…
Low and behold, righ there on the back of the package on the “File Card”, it inexplicably reads:
“Storm Shadow served with Snake Eyes in Southeast Asia and both of them later studied the secret art of Ninjitsu with the family of Storm Shadow, a ninja clan that could trace its history back through thirty generations of ninjas. Unhinged by the murder of his uncle and mentor, he infiltrated Cobra seeking revenge, but found vengeance to be a poor substitute for life. Now, in semi-retirement at a remote mountain hideaway, he occasionally takes on a special mission or two if Snake Eyes asks him nicely. “
True, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes were hommies at one time, but if memory serves me correctly, it was none other than Stormy himself that murdered Snake Eyes’ sensi! The act which forever marked Storm Shadow as Snake Eyes’ nemesis. Like, if those two were in the same room together, watch the f’ out ’cause there’s gonna be some major fisticuffs flying!
I don’t know where Hasbro got the notion that Storm Shadow is “semi-retired”, especially when the ORIGINAL version of Stormy is available in the 1st Wave Cobra Legions pack and clearly has the Cobra emblem in red on his chest. Oh, and another bastardized version of Storm Shadow also comes with the 2nd Wave Cobra Legions pack, but at least he’s in the right company!
Anyways, that GLARING oversight(?) aside, this Storm Shadow is pretty neat. I remember when they came out with his “urban camo” look originally and I was stoked on it. Plenty of detail in the figure (that the original toys lacked, but hey, most of us blew them up with firecrackers anyways) and the artwork on the package is true to the original, if not the stuff they originally used back in the late ’80s.
Just remember kiddies, Storm Shadow is an evil member of COBRA!
He’d more likely embed a shruiken in Snake Eyes’ brain if he even came within spitting distance of “asking him nicely” to go on a frolicking adventure with the Joes. Sheesh Hasbro, wtf?
Storm Shadow version 2 is a very cool addition to any collectors GI Joe Collection.
While Storm Shadow does not have all of the same equipment as his original Version 2 (all weapons are recycled from previous 25th Ann Storm Shadows) it does not take away from the grandness of this figure.
Buy it if you’re a fan of the character. You’ll like it.

Just to correct the last review, and not to be a jerk either.
1. TRUE storm shadow WAS a member of cobra in the begining, he was only there to find out who murdered his uncle.(SNake eyes’ sensei) once he found out he defected to G.I.Joe.
2. as stated previously Storm Shadow DID NOT murder snake-eyes’ sensai, zartan did, but used storm shadow’s arrow to frame him.
3. Storm Shadow and Snake-eyes are sword brothers and still get along.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
p.s. these figures are great
A re-imagined reproduction of the original 3.5” Storm Shadow.
I was impressed with the new design and the new levels of articulation.
It’s interesting that you can pop the character’s head on and off to remove his quiver/sheath.
I grew up with the 3.5 inch Joes and though I don’t play with toys anymore, I couldn’t help but open these up and put them in cool poses… Really brings back memories.
YO*JOE!=== Blast from the past. This Snake Eyes has to be the best figure in the new collection. From a nostalgic perspective, this figure fulfills everything you would want Hasbro to do when re-releasing Snake Eyes. From the illustrative graphic down to Timbers beady little eyes this toy embodies what Joe figures are all about. Get one, and you will know that you picked up a sweet throwback! YO*JOE====!
This Snake Eyes 2 reissue is pretty cool. Snake Eyes was always one of the baddest, dangerous and most mysterious members of the G.I. Joe universe for those of us who grew up in the 1980’s and played with the figures, watched the cartoon and read Larry Hama’s best selling comic book. While the original Snake Eyes figure was one of the coolest in the original series the second Snake Eyes figure was one of the most highly sought after in the line with additions like his wolf Timber, katana sword, uzi sub machine gun and combat knife as accessories. Fast forward 20 years or so & i’m browsing through the store today and stumble upon a Snake Eyes reissue! Even though i don’t collect or play with toys anymore i’ll admit i was greatly intrigued, the packaging, drawing of Snake Eyes and even the file card were just as i remembered them back in the 1980’s! The detail in the figure was better then i remembered and a wave of pure nostalgia washed over me. I quickly purchased it with a big grin on my face and rushed home to open it! The poseability of the figure is superior to the original and i had fun geeking out and putting him in cool poses. Thank You Hasbro for reissueing this great part of my childhood.
Snake Eyes was by far the best toy I ever owned, and probably the hardest to find. I don’t collect toys, but when I saw this one I had to buy it immediately. I haven’t taken him out of the package, but I can tell by looking that he would stay together if I were weird and played with toys.
SNAKE EYES need I say more. This is one of my childhood favorites next to Storm Shadow. If you want to be a kid again, even if you are 35 years old, get it. I will keep this one in the package and let someone in the future know how much remembering your childhood is. I plan to pass this on to my child if I have one, if not bury it with me!!!
My son is in the US Army in Afghanistan. I found his old GI Joes and his sons got interested in playing with them. I was so glad to find out that the new 25th anniversary ones are coming out again. The boys are having fun with my son by email and messenger to talk about old and new GI Joe play.
Even though my boyfriend is in his thirties, he still enjoys playing with G.I. Joes. This was one collection he did not have and it brought great joy. Thanks for delivering so fast.
gotta admit, I was expecting poor quality….
but these Cobras are NICE…. a wonderful collection that can be proudly inducted into your own….
impressive…..
There is a very good chance that if you are looking to purchase this for your kid, you were into GI Joe back in the 80s. Before you read on, try to remember how ruggedly built those old toys were. You could smash ‘em, throw ‘em into the grass and dirt, and they’d be ready the next day…month…my kid is now playing with those toys 25 years later.
This toy is built of cheap, thin plastic. I guarantee if your kid drops it ONCE from chest height, it’s done. The thirty-five year old nerd in one of these reviews is not who these toys are meant for. Most of the pieces do not LOCK into place and need to constantly be put back into position. Have you ever heard of toy railings that “rest” in position?! They dont snap or lock into place! I didn’t even bother w/ super-glue and threw away the railings. The hinges that many of the doors/sections rely on constantly need to be popped back into place, too. There is absolutely nothing solid on this. Cheap, cheap, cheap.
If my son’s eyes didn’t bug out when he saw this thing, I would have returned it. Save your money…and the sanity you’ll lose trying to apply page after page after page of stickers 1/4 the size of your pinky fingernail.
First of all I’d like to say, unlike the previous review I did not buy this for children. I am a 35 year old adult collector of toys. I grew up with GI Joe. This toy is definitely not for 5 year old toddlers. As a kid I wanted the USS Flag Ship so much I could taste the weird plastic smell.
THIS.. is like my childhood dream come true! The instructions are a bit vague, but with a little patience and some walking away, for breaks, this thing works perfectly and is cool as hell! Infinite possibilities for play and display. The price is well worth it.
The picture on the back of the box does NO JUSTICE! There are so many hidden features, fun things to TOY with.. and once you get it together it EASILY converts from vehicle to play setting. I’ve messed around with this thing for 3 hours and haven’t even started with the decals! The stickers are half the fun, and this thing has A LOT!!!!!
THANK YOU HASBRO for finally making something more than worth the price.. FUN as well, but can you cut back on the darn twisty ties!?
Last but not least. This thing is HUGE! Back in the day the USS went for [..]. Today the PIT is[..]. If this movie franchise collects on its’ trilogy promise, will the Flag sail again? If so we can expect a price tag for about [..] … as long as it gives us ALL the AMENITIES like the PIT… I’LL BUY!
The Pit Headquarters:
Positives – Huge playset, lots of stuff, infinite play possibilities. My 2 five year olds love it, it occupies them for hours at a time. We keep it opened up and not in vehicle mode most of the time. Seems pretty durable, has held up to intense play for long stretches without any breaks.
Negatives – Lots of small parts, which I pretty much expected. No suprises. 5 sheets of stickers – would take HOURS to apply. I saw on another message board it took a guy 5 hours to put them all on. I didn’t put on every last sticker, many are tiny and inconsequential. Seems they could have done a better job with this.
——————————————————————–
My main issue is the price – [...] bones for this set is too high. I think it would be well worth the money for $50-60 but at [...] + it is definitely overpriced. Really could say this for all the new GI joe toys.
If you are willing to wait until next winter after xmas when this will probably be fairly significantly discounted, more power to you and you’ll be getting a great deal on an overall great toy. However if you’re like me and my kids and pumped up for the movie, you’ll pay too much for this – I don’t regret buying it and it is a great playset, you won’t be disappointed with it but again $100+ is too much.
The DVD with this pack is awesome. The figures are even more awesome than the DVD the visor on Snake Eyes dosen’t fall off like all the others and Storm Shadow looks more like he does in the the t.v show.
This was a gift for my nephew. It was delivered a few days earlier than expected. For that,
I was pleaded. The delivery box was very well sealed. Inside, the package was packed securely
preventing movement. The toys were unopened and in their orgriginal box. There wasn’t any
evidence of tampering. I didn’t video tape the pacckage. My nephew was thrilled beyond
belief and tore into his gift. I found the item reasonably priced, but the postal rates a little
high. This is the first time that I ever ordered anything on-line and this purchase was a
very positive experience. If you or a love one is a GI Joe fan as I am, you will love this item.
I bought this for my nephew for Xmas and I was suprised these thisngs were actually pretty big GI Joe’s. Lots of weapons that came with it. THose are pretty big too and stiff plastic so I’d watch out with little kids I think they could easily hurt themselves with them. But as long as youth or natural selection doesn’t factor in your kids should be fine.
I had every version of Snake-eyes and Storm Shadow as a kid and I have to say that these are probably the best looking these two ninjas have ever looked. The detail has come a long way since I was a kid, granted these figures have the advantage of being much larger then ones I grew up with.
The high degree of articulation allows these two to get into some rather realistic positions while in another in their long line of epic battles. I have to say that the points of articulation are rather sturdy as well.
If I have any complaints is Snake-eyes Tonfa swords, though cool in theory, didn’t work out as well as I would have liked, and one of the folding handles has since popped off and been lost.
Despite that, this is just an all around great set of two classic characters. If you are a collector or just looking to relive the glory days with the help of your kids this is a set worth buying.
