Don’t buy this toy unless you want to waste your money!!

My husband-to-be assembled this toy and my son was so excited. The moment my son sat on it we knew we’d been scammed out of the money we paid for it. The main problem is the back end is too wide. The wide back end interferes with the backward movement of his legs and therefore there was no way he can propel the scooter forward. The narrow front seat with wide back end is a major design flaw and I find it hard to believe that this toy made it out of the design and testing stages at Hasbro Playskool.

Additional problems: The wheels are extremely slippery plastic; it rides too low to the ground, and once assembled it cannot be disassembled, placed back into the box and returned to the store for a refund!

This toy is great for entertainment, i love the riding part and the cute little things on it.
I don’t trust this thing as someone that is just trying to walk because it rolls ahead so fast.
I would recomend it we have had it for 2 1/2 years now and my son still plays with it!

We have had this toy for almost a year now and haven’t gotten the use out of it I’d hope. First, the walker part doesn’t roll that easily. So by the time my son was old enough to push it, he wasn’t interested in pushing it. The car is very small. My son is an average size toddler, but is already to big to sit on the seat. I don’t recommend getting this. There are much better walking toys out there.

The design of this walker is awful. For a toy built to assist a baby starting to walk should be designed so the baby doesn’t trip over the very thing that is supposed to assist them! The bottom wheels come out so far that as the baby holds on to the handle, the legs constantly gets tangled with the wheels. I don’t know why the wheels have to come out so far. As for the car version, it works fine. But used as a walker, it is terrible.

My kids (1 and 3) had tremendous fun with this toy, but it is very power-hungry. We’d change out the batteries and one week later it would be flat again. The surge of air that pushes the balls out just takes a lot of power. Other than that, it’s great fun. The music isn’t too annoying, and my kids loved chasing after the balls as they shot out of the toy. I’d instruct your children not to peer into the ball shoot, however, as my daughter twice has gotten tagged in the eye as the balls came out.

Purchased this for my nephew when he turned one. He absolutely loooves to play with the balls and see it go down the slide. I’m not sure which he likes best: to play with batteries on or off. Helps the child understand motion. :)

We bought this toy for our 12 month old but not only does she love but our 3 year old son and 7 year old daughter also love to play with it as well. We have weekly playgroups at our house with 2 and 3 year olds and someone is always playing with this toy.

Kinch March 9, 2010 at 5:05 am

This is a great toy to keep your kids busy. It only takes a couple of tries to get the balls up, if the batteries are not tottaly full its not going.
If your kid by exitment puts the wrong ball it that is a little bigger its a huge hassle trying to get it out. Unscrewing cracked ours a little.

It was a nice gift and nice entertainment for my son!

I purchased the Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper for our neighbor’s 1 year old, and I’m not sure who has had more fun with it; her playing with it, or us watching her play with it.

Ezell March 9, 2010 at 7:46 am

We purchased this toy for my daughter when she turned 1. She loved it and it provided lots of entertainment. A few months ago we brought it back out for our now 1 year old son, and he will sit for 20 minutes straight and play with it! It’s the only toy he sits still to play with. My daughter, who is almost 4, is enjoying playing with her little brother with this toy too. We have never had any issues with it, and I have even had to fish numerous different toys out of it because of kids putting other things in it instead of the balls! Its great to teach cause and effect, althoguh the music at times can be annoying after hearing it for long periods of time! I would definilty recommned this toy, it has been durable and provides both my kids with enojoyment!

McIvor March 9, 2010 at 8:01 am

First for the drawbacks; 1)It is easy to lose the balls if you don’t make a point of collecting them after play and keeping them somewhere safe, 2)There is music that plays continuously while it is on, which can be annoying for some, and 3)The play cycle is rather short so you or baby must keep pressing plunger to start it again. This might be a welcome respite for those offended by #2.
BUT: All four of my boys LOVED this toy!!! A favorite, and a toy I always buy or recommend to others. Perfect for a boy or girl. My boys were enthralled by the colorful balls shooting out of the hole and amazed when they almost always went where they were supposed to, which is around the ramp and back into the receptacle. They also LOVED to feel the air blow out of the toy (the air is what pushes the ball up and out of the hole) and would often just press the plunger to feel the air on their faces, hands and in their hair. They quickly learned to start the toy themselves and would be entertained by it longer than they would be by other toys. All of my boys got this toy for their first birthdays (I am a toy manufacturers dream, I sell toys in Mom2Mom sales after on child outgrows them and then end up buying them again for subsequent kids– can’t stand clutter and feel they deserve their own stuff).

Knox March 9, 2010 at 9:13 am

This was purchased for 1 YR old twins, they both freaked out when their parents turned it on. It was going to be returned. As their nanny I figured I’d give it a try a month later. It took me four days to get them used to the LOUD SOUND of the toy before they would even go near it! (playing it in the other room, getting closer to them, throwing the balls up in the air myself and making funny noises…I felt like a clown!) The fan overpowers the music and isn’t coordinated with the actual balls popping up (same noise same over and over again, even without the balls)…so predictability isn’t in sync. There are only 5 balls, and they are impossible to replace (they are smaller than “ball pit” balls). It eats up batteries, only lasted a month before the fan wouldn’t push them up.
Notice in the commercials videos on this page they don’t have the sound of the machine. I have it on video, it sounds like a vacuum!

Having purchased the Playskool Explore ‘N Grow Busy Ball Popper for my grandson I was delighted to find he enjoyed it for several years. HOWEVER, when I tried to purchase new balls for this toy I found it impossible. I do NOT want to have to purchase a new toy. My grandson IS getting older, but this year he would enjoy it again.

Querrey March 9, 2010 at 11:45 am

Fun toy, it seems well built and entertaining for our daughter. We enjoy it as well.

Varjabedian March 9, 2010 at 12:06 pm

My 6 month old has this in purple. It is a beautiful shade with bright colored doors and stickers. The first night his older brother would open the doors for him, and he would eagerly shut them down. But when his brother went to school the next day, he had to play alone and learned to open most of the doors by himself. He’s still too little to turn the key, but he did learn how to pound, push and even kick the buttons to get the doors to open. Then he races to shut them don again. It’s just too cute. And the best thing about is it that I don’t have to change any batteries or listen to any tinny noises. (My son had the singing Sesame Street one when he was a baby. He loved it, but it drove us nuts!) This is an all around great toy.

Freedman March 9, 2010 at 1:20 pm

We bought this for our son’s 1st Birthday. He’s quite the energetic guy so this really did little for him. At first he was curious how it worked and then lost all interest quickly after. Not a big loss though as it was cheap.

Giorgio March 9, 2010 at 1:53 pm

I’m so glad that I found this toy for my grandson/s 1st birthday. He is still learning how to press the different buttons, but for now he loves to close them after they pop up. I think it’s an excellent learning toy.

Griffiths March 9, 2010 at 2:51 pm

I purchased this toy 4 days ago for my 11.5 month old niece. Already she has figured out how to get the pop ups down, and she’s working on learning the various mechanisms to get them to pop back up. This is a great choice if you are looking for toys without batteries that make kids think instead of entertaining them with flashing colors and cool sounds. It’s also a great value for the price.
